Wek-Wek will not meet in July.  Instead, all Arrowmen should go camping.  And when you get back, tell us about it.

Go to http://WhereToGoCamping.info, log on, and tell us about where you went, and what you liked or didn’t like about it.    This is one of the services that we provide to other scouts, including the ones that elected you into the Order of the Arrow.

This past weekend, Wek-Wek, along with Sem Yeto Apanuc, hosted Ut-In Sélica’s Spring Ordeal at Camp Wolfeboro. And, for the first time in several years, Wek-Wek provided a Ceremonies Team.Ceremonies Team practice
The Ordeal was very well attended by 53 Arrowmen and 70 candidates. Arrowmen of Wek-Wek did a great job of providing leadership, ceremonies, and a lot of cheerful service for this Ordeal.

On this Memorial Day, we remember Eagle Scout Scott Barnett, from Muir District’s Troop 1994, who was killed in action in Tallil, Iraq, on January 28, 2010.

Rest in Peace!

April was an exciting month to be a Scout, and especially to be an Arrowman. The NorCal Jamboree was amazing, and I know I’ll never forget it. Ut-In Sélica Lodge held a Fellowship / Lodge Banquet at the newly renovated Camp Herms, and here in the Muir District, our Campfire / Call-Out was a great success.

But we are hosting the June Ordeal at Wolfeboro, and we we still need lots of help. Our Ceremonies team has been working hard on their costumes and memorizing their lines. We are in dire need of adults and youth to serve as Elangomats and help in the kitchen. We need adults who can take charge of the kitchen or serve as advisers for ceremonies and Elangomats.

If you would like to participate in some brotherhood and cheerful service, please join us at our next Apanuc meeting, this Thursday, May 6th at 7:00 pm, at the LDS Church on Denkinger Road. I’ll bring the pizza.

Ut-In Sélica Lodge combined their Fellowship and Banquet for 2010, and everyone who went had a great time. The favorite activity was the car bash. Click on the picture for the photo album.

Check out the Wek-Wek sweatshirts. If you don’t have one yet, that means you need to come to our meetings.

Following the Banquet, this year’s Vigil selectees were announced. Congratulations to Dan for being selected.

Jamboree Season

March was a fun, but busy month. We’ve conducted elections and performed Arrow of Light Ceremonies, including this ceremony for Pack 445:

April will also be full of opportunities for fun. Come to our Apanuc meeting on Thursday, April 1st, and you’ll be in for a great surprise (no fooling)! And we’re still working on Indian costumes and practicing ceremonies.

Camp Herms is the place to be on April 10-11, as Ut-In Sélica Lodge hosts a combined Fellowship and Lodge Dinner. Check out the newly renovated facilities at the camp, and join us in some cheerful service, brotherhood, and a lot of fun.

And if you haven’t heard, 2010 is the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, and to celebrate, there will be a huge Northern California Jamboree held at the Alameda County fairgrounds on April 15-18. You’ll be so sorry if you miss this one.

We’ve got plenty to look forward to this month, starting right at the beginning.

On Monday, March 1st , we’ll be holding a Troop Election for Troop 429 at First Christian Church in Concord.

Ut-In Sélica’s Chiefs’ Council will meet on Wednesday, March 3rd, at the MDSC Service Center.

On Thursday, March 4th, we’ll have our regular Wek-Wek Apanuc meeting at the LDS Church on Denkinger Road.

The Spring Lindblad Ordeal will be on March 12-14th.

And lest I forget, this has been a very good year for Eagle Scout Arrowmen. So far, I’ve attended Eagle Courts for the following Arrowmen from Wek-Wek:

  • Sean Defreze, Troop 1994
  • Andrew Woo, Troop 317
  • Chris Jungenberg, Troop 317
  • Congratulations to these Eagles!

    By-Laws Update

Ut-In Sélica’s By-Laws committee has put a lot of time and effort into updating the Lodge By-Laws. You can red their proposal here: http://wekwek.org/assets/proposed_bylaws.pdf.

The Lodge Chiefs’ Council will vote on them Wednesday night, February 3rd, so if you have any questios or concerns, contact your Apanuc Chief before Wednesday night!

    Got Regalia?

For the first time in many years, Wek-Wek is putting together its own Ceremonies team!

We’re also starting to get requests for Elections, so we need to create some election teams.

If you’d like to join in, gather up all of your regalia and costumes, and join us at our regular Apanuc meeting, on Thursday, December 3rd at 7:00, at the LDS Church on Denkinger Road.

We have a lot going on this week.

Ut-In Sélica Lodge has asked us to switch Ordeals for the coming year, so we, along with Sam-Yeto Apanuc, will be hosting the June Wolfeboro Ordeal instead of October. When you went through your Ordeal and Brotherhood ceremonies, you probably noticed that it was a lot more impressive when the Ceremonies team had their act together. So, we need to start working on our Ceremonies team as soon as possible.

Next Saturday, November 7th, is a work day at Camp Herms. If you can spare some time for cheerful service, go check it out.

If you went through your Ordeal in 2008, or any time before that, you are eligible for Brotherhood. And, as luck will have it, Ut-In Sélica will be hosting a Brotherhood class and ceremony at the Herms work day.
